Shingle Blow Off

September 7, 2009 by Ajay Diaz · 3 Comments

When person has shingles blow off there roof, the first thing they may think was it was the wind.Wind can be a problem, but shingles are generally rated to stand up to a 60 mph wind. Many times there is another reason for the problem. The biggest part of the problem may be due to poor shingle installation. Two off the biggest culprits when it comes to blow off, is not enough nails or nailing to high. Both are signs of poor workmanship.
So what do we do to solve the problem? We have to tooth out carefully the broken shingles and replace them with new ones. When we do this we want to make sure we have four nails in every shingle and that it is nailed below the seal strip. Finally it does hurt to hand seal them down with a good quality sealant until they can stay down on their own
